ODI Most Valuable Players 2007 (all teams)

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Vineet’s ODI Most Valuable Players 2007 (all teams) Rankings are out! You can check out the ODI Most Valuable Players 2006 here

Wow he surprises me!!! The only player to regain the top slot!! Amazing!

RN ten Doeschate of Netherlands has again topped the most valuable player list. He has proved that his 2006 rating as no fluke. He is indeed the MVP. If I could bet of a cricketer, it can only be him. He scored 356 runs in 11 matches he played, at a phenomenal average of 59.33 at a strike rate of 81.83!! Phew, that betters his own record for 2006. And in bowling he took 23 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 17.69 RPW at a strike rate of just 21.7 balls!! He also took 5 catches. What an awesome package!! He beats the likes of Pollock, Afridi, Maharoof, Yuvraj, Kallis, and Jayasuriya just like that!

Shahid Afridi of Pakistan came second with an average of 29.91 at a phenomenal strike rate of 161.7 (he more than makes up for his low average) in 15 matches he played. He took 19 wickets at an average of 31.73 RPW at a strike rate of 40.7 balls!! He also took 7 catches.

Davison of Canada also surprised me by coming at the third position. In 13 matches he played, he scored 370 runs at an average of 30.83 at a good strike rate of 109.1. 12 wickets at an average of 36.75 RPW and a strike rate of 53.5. He also took 8 catches.

Ryan Sidebottom of England made this list based purely on his bowling He took 14 wickets at an average of 15.85 strike rate of 24.5 in just 6 matches he played. Moreover he gave a miserly 3.88 RPO. He also took a catch and scored 8.33 runs but at least didn’t waste balls with a strike rate of 96.15, which also contributed a little bit towards him reaching the fourth spot.

Steve Tikolo of Kenya edged out others to get to the fifth spot by scoring 447 runs at an average of 34.38 at a strike rate of 74.62 in 19 matches he played. He took 23 wickets at an average of 25.43 RPW at a strike rate of 34.2 balls. He also took a phenomenal 23 catches. Steve Tikolo was no. 3 last year so retaining a top 5 position is commendable and it establishes him as one of the leading allrounders in one day cricket today.
