ODI Most Valuable Players 2010 (all teams)

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Vineet’s ODI Most Valuable Players 2010 (all teams) Rankings are out! You can check out the ODI Most Valuable Players 2010 here

Sachin Tendulkar played just 2 matches in 2010. However, by scoring the all-time high of 200* he made it to the top of the heap as the most valuable player of any team. He had a strike rate of 134! He beat the likes of AB de Villiers, Kallis, Amla, Flintoff, Sehwag, Pollock, Afridi, Maharoof, Yuvraj, and Gayle just like that!

AB de Villiers scored 964 runs in 16 matches at an average of 80.33 and a strike rate of 102 to come second in the list. Hold on. He also took 22 catches and 1 stumping to be a part of 23 dismissals.

Jacques Kallis of South Africa has appeared out of nowhere to come third on the MVP list of 2010! No wonders he was single handedly responsible for the destruction of India and some other teams. He made this list almost entirely on his bowling performance. He scored just 57 runs in 18 matches he played, nevertheless at an average of 19.0 at an amazing strike rate of 103.63!! But wait, while bowling he took 48 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 10.12 RPW at a strike rate of just 16.9 balls to finish with an enviable economy rate of 2.58!! He also took 3 catches. What an awesome package!!

Hashim Amla of South Africa returned fourth with an average of 75.57 at a strike rate of 104 while scoring an astounding 1058 runs in 15 matches he played. He also took 6 catches.

Shahid Afridi of Pakistan returned fifth with an average of 33.38 at a phenomenal strike rate of 144.12 (that’s better than most batsmen) while scoring 601 runs in 18 matches he played. He took 19 wickets at an average of 45.05 RPW at a strike rate of 34 balls and eco rate of 4.87!! He also took 9 catches.

RN ten Doeschate of Netherland played less than 5 matches but he was allowed to be ranked since he’s been performing at a very high level. In the 3 matches he played he scored 208 runs at an average of 104 at a strike rate of 87.76.He also took 4 wickets at an average of 22.0 and an eco rate of 4.0! Phew!! This is the most awesome cricketing package! And he’s not retired yet. He’s going to be at the World Cup!!

Parthiv Patel, Sarwan, Bosman, Cook and Gunasekara (Can) also performed well but did not play the regulation 5 matches to be ranked.

ODI Batsmen Rankings 2010 (all teams)

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

Well January is back, and so is the Fifth edition of Vineet’s Cricket Rankings (check out the ODI Batsmen Rankings 2009 here)! And though there are some surprises, the top of the heap is captured by none other than one of the emerging cricketers of South Africa- Hashim Amla!! He is followed by another South African – AB de Villiers! Going into the World Cup, South Africa is thus the best batting line up today!!! Amla was the most explosive batsman on scene in 2010. He scored 1058 runs averaging 75.57 in just 15 matches and a strike rate of 104.23. Although he way beyond Shahid Afridi’s strike rate of 144.12 but his astonishing average pipped the vacillating Afridi by miles. He smashed 5 centuries and 4 half-centuries on the way to achieving this. Sachin Tendulkar played just 2 matches and could not be considered for this ranking. However, he smashed an astonishing 200* and must be considered at the top of the heap.

He is followed by AB de Villiers who scored 964 runs in just 16 matches at a nice average of 80.33 (higher than last year) at a nice strike rate of 102.11 (much higher than last year)!! He smashed 5 centuries and 4 half-centuries on the way to achieving this. Andy Strauss appeared from nowhere to take the 3rd spot scoring 806 runs in 14 matches at a nice average of 57.57 at a good strike rate of 95.95! He smashed 2 centuries and 6 half-centuries on the way to achieving this. Gautam Gambhir (AVE 55.83 SR 93.96), TM Dilshan of Sri Lanka (AVE 51.16 SR 98.92) and Kallis of South Africa (AVE 59.3 SR 89.3) follow at 4,5 and 6. So the year 2010 was heavily dominated by South African Batsmen. Indian batsmen to some extent also shone but were far away from the South Africans, and the Pakistanis trail at no. 3.

But then who are the teams of 2010? Well South Adfrica is right there at the top with 5 batmsen in Top 14. And next are Indians and Pakistanis. India has 6 batsmen in top 30.

ODI Bowler Rankings 2010 (all teams)

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

The ODI Bowler’s Ranking 2010 is out! in the Fifth edition of Vineet’s Cricket Rankings (Check out the ODI Bowler Rankings 2009 here)! And there are lots of surprises here, in fact, the bowling Top 30 almost got entirely revamped with a lot of new bowlers coming in. The small teams are leading possibly because of low scores in their matches. However, not to take away credit from their bowlers, we saw Kenya dominate the bowling attack for the first time in 4 years!! New Zealand bowlers also bowled quite well to take 3 positions in Top 14.

At the top of the heap is Ngoche of Kenya, who captured 13 wickets in the just 9 matches he played at 18.23 apiece. And he spent a miserly 3.08 runs per over to land right on top. He emerged out of nowhere in 2009 to be at the top in 2010. That seemsa to be a nice talent to watch for. He was followed by Mirwais Ashraf of Afghanistan who captured 9 wickets in the just 6 matches he played at 17 apiece. And he spent a miserly 3.32 runs

Odoyo of Kenya came third takung 14 wickets in 9 matches at 17.85 apiece. And he spent only 3.6 runs per over.

Ryan Harris of Australia was 4th claiming 40 wickets in 16 matches at 15.17 runs per wicket and an economy rate of 4.63 rpo. Now this puts him right at the top of heap of serious cricket playing nations. He was nowhere in the picture last year. So this seems to be a good year for new Australian talent, with Hadin just having topped the Fielding charts!

Graeme Swann established himself as a spinner to watch finishing 5th claiming 28 wickets in 14 matches at 18.67 runs per wicket and an economy rate of 4.25 rpo. After a long time an Indian made it to Top 20, and it was Munaf Patel, who bowled a few match winning economical spells this year. He took 7 wickets in 6 matches at 24.85 runs per wicket and at a very economical 3.86 per over.
