IPL 2009 Player Rankings - MVP (Most Valuable Person)

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

This website had introduced the system of MVP long back, which has now become a standard term, the world over, to define what was earlier termed as an all-rounder.

This edition of IPL has again thrown up new talent and the most exciting amongst them in Manish Pandey (Kungfu Panda). However, the MVP of this edition was clearly Matthew Hayden of Chennai Super Kings. He got 572 runs at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 144.81. He struck 5 half-centuries in the process and hit 22 sixes and 60 fours. He also took 5 catches.

Next of course was van Wyk of Kolkata Knight Riders, who in just 5 matches scored 167 runs at an average of 55.66 runs at a strike rate of 126.51. He also came out as the best fielder grabbing 7 catches.

Manish Pandey (Kungfu Panda) scored 168 runs in the 5 matches he got at an average of 84 and a strike rate of 142.37. In the process he hit one century and struck 4 sixes and 17 fours.
